Grandmother to be Dallas Cowboys cheerleader?
High kicks and splits are not things you usually see grandmothers doing — especially not in a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader costume, but that’s not stopping Sharon Simmons. Simmons, 55, has decided to pursue her dream of becoming a cheerleader for “America’s Team.” She traveled to Dallas from Carrollton, Texas to audition with hundreds of other aspiring Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. While in her early 20s Simmons almost tried out for the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad, but her dreams were put on hold when she had a daughter. Now, more than 30 years later, Simmons is once again pursuing her goal of becoming a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. If she makes the cut, she will be the oldest…
Bengals cheerleader ‘had sex’ with her student
Sarah Jones, the smoking-hot captain of the Cincinnati Bengals cheerleading squad, has been charged with sexual abuse for allegedly sleeping with a high school student. A grand jury in Kentucky indicted Sarah Jones, 26, who is also a ninth-grade English teacher, of first degree sexual abuse and unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities. Jones allegedly had sex with a student at her apartment four or five times, a crime punishable by up to five years in prison. “Unlawful use of electronic devices to solicit illegal activity” means she sent allegedly sent flirty text messages. That’s another possible five years in jail. Cheryl Jones, Sarah’s…
Tebow traded from Denver Broncos to New York Jets
Tim Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets by the Denver Broncos. The news comes just one day after Peyton Manning signed with the Denver Broncos. Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer broke the story on Wednesday on Twitter. The Jets traded their fourth- and sixth-round drafts picks in exchange for the young, polarizing quarterback from the University of Florida. The proposed deal brings into question Mark Sanchez’s role as the team’s starting quarterback. The Jets extended his contract less than two weeks ago, quelling rumors that the front office was looking to can the inconsistent Sanchez in favor of Manning. But with Tebow coming to town, talk of a New York quarterback…
Peyton Manning meets Denver, Arizona, Miami
Peyton Manning has been meeting with teams as a free agent following his release from the Indianapolis Colts. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback sat down with Broncos vice president John Elway in Denver on Friday. Though no deal was brokered, a source within the organization called the meeting “productive.” Of course, Manning coming to play at Mile High would add more drama to the already epic Tim Tebow saga, throwing the inspiring upstart quarterback’s future in Denver into jeopardy once again. The results of Manning’s meeting with Arizona Cardinals officials two days later were just as inconclusive. Reports say Manning spoke with members of the Cardinals’ front office and “spent a few hours” with Cardinals receiver…
New Orleans face NFL punishment in ‘bounty-gate’
The New Orleans Saints have been exposed by the NFL for a bounty program that involved former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and two-dozen New Orleans players with the knowledge of head coach Sean Payton. “Bounty-gate,” as the media has dubbed it, involved paying New Orleans Saints players big bonuses for injuring opposing players and taking stars like Brett Favre and Peyton Manning out of a game. Williams may also have run bounty programs with other teams. Gregg Williams, now defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams and formerly defensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins, has accepted responsibility for his role in “bounty-gate” and apologized, as have Sean Payton and New Orleans Saints general manager…
Randy Moss: retirement over, ready for NFL again
Randy Moss wants to come out of retirement and play in the NFL again in 2012, the former All Pro wide receiver announced Monday on UStream. Moss, who holds the record for most touchdowns in a single season (23 with the 2007 New England Patriots) last played in 2010 with the Tennessee Titans. He had a lackluster season, and announced he was retiring last August. But with his proclamation made Monday, his 35th birthday, it seems like Moss has unfinished business on the field. Chris Carter thinks his old Minnesota Vikings teammate is up for the challenge. Carter says Moss can run a 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds. But which team would be willing to…

Eli Manning led the New York Giants to a 4th quarter come-from-behind victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, the second time the Giants have upset the Patriots in the Super Bowl in four years. In a rematch of 2008’s Super Bowl XLII, Giants coach Tom Coughlin beat his friend and former colleague, Patriots coach Bill Belichick. Giants quarterback Eli Manning was named Super Bowl MPV for the second time. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady staked New England to a 10-9 lead at the end of the first half with Super Bowl record-breaking 96-yard touchdown drive. Brady broke Joe Montana’s Super Bowl record for consecutive completions and Kurt Warner’s record…
Eli Manning or Tom Brady: pick the elite Super Bowl QB
When Tom Brady and the New England Patriots face Eli Manning and the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI, more will be decided than just which team is the best in the NFL. The game should also show who is the true elite quarterback. The controversy began last summer when Eli, answering a question posed by ESPN New York Radio host Michael Kay about his place among the league’s QBs, said he was in the same class as Brady. He took heat for the comment, considering he finished the 2010 season with a league-high 25 interceptions. But now Eli is making his critics eat their words, having led his injury-plagued 2011 Giants team from…
