Kranjska? Krainer? Slovenia, Austria go to war over sausage
Call it Kranjska vs Krainer. Slovenia has applied to the EU’s European Commission for official recognition and protected status for the Kranjska klobasa, or “Krainer Wurst”, a sausage it claims for its own. Slovenia claims the sausage, of which a cheese-filled version known as a ‘kaesekrainer’ is extremely popular in Austria, was invented in Northern Slovenia in the 19th century. Complicating the claim is the fact that Slovenia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time. Should the EU side with Slovenia then Austria would be forced to change the name, much to the chagrin of kaesekrainer lovers in Vienna. The two countries have six months to come to a settlement in their battle…

Norway is one of the richest countries in the world and they are willing to pay for their butter fix. The price of butter spiked at 80 Euros a kilo on auction sites. A Russian butter smuggler was caught trying to bring in 90kg of contraband butter. If imported butter were not kept out of Norway by protectionist trade policies, Norwegians would not…
Slaughtering horses for meat could return to US
Horse slaughterhouses could soon pop up in America’s heartland as Congress has repealed a funding ban on inspections of equine meat for human consumption. Proponents see butchering as a productive solution to the nation’s horse overpopulation issues. Cases of horse abandonment and neglect are on the rise, with over 1,500 horses abandoned in the state of Colorado alone in 2009, a 63% increase compared to three years prior. Ranchers have exported many excess horses for butchering–138,000 in total last year–but Wyoming state legislator Sue Wallis says the returns on the foreign market are low. Butchering horses domestically would bode better financially, and also allow for greater oversight of how they are killed, to the reserved…
Pepper Spray! A delicious form of crowd control
Pepper spray is a yummy and delicious form of crowd control. Just ask Lt. John Pike or Anthony (Tony) Bologna! Old women (like Dorli Rainey) and pregnant ladies (like Jennifer Fox) LOVE pepper spray. That’s because pepper spray is essentially a food product. Megyn Kelly eats it every day. In China, pepper spray is used in Sichuan hot pot. Therefore, it’s not very effective as a form of crowd control and more traditional means are required. But if pepper spray is a food product, how does it stand up to Tapatio? … Tapatio is the bomb!
