Trayvon Martin: Zimmerman gets murder charge
Special prosecutor Angela Corey has charged George Zimmerman with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Corey’s decision finally brings to Sanford, Florida, what his family had long desired: court justice for their son. Police had refused to arrest Zimmerman, who claimed self-defense. But the facts of the case and Zimmerman’s claims will now be tested in a court of law. Until now, much has been speculated but little confirmed about the minutes before a young life was taken. A court trial will bring justice. It will give prosecutors an opportunity to prove whether a murder took place. And it will give Zimmerman an opportunity to defend his innocence. ENGLISH:
