Facebook is going public on Friday, with an IPO that’s expected to raise more than $18 billion for Facebook, mint 500 to 1,000 new millionaires and make Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, now just 28, a multi-billionaire.

Facebook after the IPO is expected to be more valuable than McDonald’s in an IPO that could generate more than 10 times the $1.67 billion Google raised with its IPO in 2004. Anywhere from 500 to 1,000 Facebook employees and shareholders will become millionaires.

Walmart shopper Mica Craig got the shock of his life when he was bitten by a rattlesnake. Craig was shopping in the garden section when the snake sank its fangs into his hand.

Initially, the Idaho native thought he was brushing away a stick that had fallen across his legs. He soon found this was not the case. Craig shook the snake lose and stomped it to death before falling to the ground in pain.

Craig was shopping at the Walmart to get soil for his marijuana plants. Don’t worry, he needs them for “medical reasons,” so he has he has a license. Craig was taken to the hospital by fellow shopper Maria Geffre, who was shopping for the same reason as Craig.

His hand swelled up to the size of a cantaloupe before Craig was treated with six bags of antivenom. Craig is in danger of having permanent damage to his hand and may lose sensation in a few fingers.

A wife who tolerated her cheating husband’s first illegitimate child caught her spouse in an extramarital affair again after she found he had fathered three more love children — eight years later and with the same mistress.

The wife, whose unfaithful husband owns a bookstore in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, found out about the three new illegitimate children in February after she received a notification of approval for government child support subsidies, something she had never applied for.

Suspicious, she went to the household registration office to apply for an updated copy of her household registration, and was shocked to find three extra children on the form. It turns out her husband’s mistress — who had previously borne him a lovechild eight years ago — gave birth to triplets in December.

The wife is now suing the adulterers for adultery and home-wreckage.

May 1st is Children’s Safety Day. According to a study conducted by a Taiwanese children’s foundation, slides are the most popular item on children’s playgrounds. However, in Taiwan’s five special municipalities 96% of the slides tested fell short of safety standards. Sixty percent of the children hurt in play parks are hurt on slides.

Last week Time magazine’s cover brought the breastfeeding and attachment parenting debate into the national spotlight. This week it was Newsweek’s turn to stir up controversy, with its cover on the First Gay President.

Time magazine not only brought attention to the attachment parenting movement, it also inspired conversation on using provocative images and copy to revive the ailing print industry. Many critics are calling this issue a “stroke of genius” and “an example of print well done,” including magazine expert Samir Husni.

Newsweek came out with its controversial copy and image combo just a few days later, with similar results. The cover featured a tight shot of President Obama with a rainbow-colored halo above his head.

Newsweek discussed Obama’s “evolution” when it came to his support of same-sex marriage. It also raised the question of whether or not controversy overpowers quality.

I get startled by silent things too. At first I could only feel my way around environments very slowly. But I get around fine now that I know where everything is.

I’m different from other cats. I’m not camera-shy and I’m not afraid of flashlights. But I’m very sensitive to sounds.

Cat of the Day - Jumpy

Manchester City won the Premier League title in dramatic fashion on Sunday, scoring two goals in the last three minutes to pip cross-city rivals Manchester United and win their first league title in 44 years.

Tied on 86 points, City needed only to match United’s result to secure the title, which had looked lost a month ago when they trailed United by eight points barely a month ago.

It all looked lost, however, with 90 minutes gone, with City losing 2-1 to QPR while Wayne Rooney’s goal at Sunderland had given Utd the victory they needed to secure a 20th league title.

But Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko popped up to score two injury-time goals to spectacularly turn the tables on Alex Ferguson’s men and send the blue half of Manchester into raptures.
