Dutch football team signs 18-month-old boy
A Dutch soccer team has recruited a toddler after seeing YouTube videos of the child kicking balls into a toy chest. Eighteen-month-old Baerke van der Meij “signed” a ten-year honorary contract with his hometown club, VVV-Venlo. It’s a good thing the contract is merely a PR stunt. Little Baerke probably wouldn’t fare well on the pro field. Nor would he be able to keep up with the hard-partying lifestyle of the average footballer. With clubs already drafting toddlers off YouTube, how much farther can they go in their search for talent?
So what it’s a publicity stunt, it’s cool! That kid can really kick a ball than a lot of those real football players.
