Manchester City won the Premier League title in dramatic fashion on Sunday, scoring two goals in the last three minutes to pip cross-city rivals Manchester United and win their first league title in 44 years. Tied on 86 points, City needed only to match United’s result to secure the title, which had looked lost a month ago when they trailed United by eight points barely a month ago. New York Knicks power forward Amare Stoudemire will miss at least two games after injuring his hand following the Knicks second heavy loss to Miami Heat in Game 2 of the NBA playoffs. Metta World Peace, formally known as Ron Artest aka Ron-Ron, is in the hot seat this week after the Los Angeles Lakers small forward “unintentionally” gave Oklahoma City Thunder sixth man James Harden a concussion during Sunday’s basketball game. Harden’s concussion was the result of an elbow thrown by Mr. World Peace after he celebrated a dunk in the first half of the basketball game. Violence is up in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs — and so are ratings. NHL head of player safety Brendan Shanahan has doled out nine suspensions this postseason, already twice as many compared with the entire 2011 postseason. The NHL has become more aware of the long-term effects of head injuries sustained by hockey players. But after taking a tough stand against nasty fights and dirty hits at the beginning of the 2011-2012 season, Shanahan has been inconsistent in disciplining players. Bobby Petrino fired as Ark. Razorbacks coach

Arkansas has fired football coach Bobby Petrino for playing away from home. Petrino, who had revived the Razorbacks football program over the past four years, was involved in a motorcycle accident with a female university employee with whom he was having an affair. Petrino wiped out on his Harley on April 1. The subsequent police report revealed that Petrino, who is 51, married and has four children, was riding with Jessica Dorrell, a former Arkansas volleyball player who is 21 and engaged.
