School color labeled students to avoid bullying

Bullying is one of the biggest issues schools need to deal with. Some Taiwanese school go out of their ways to color label student, hoping it would put a stop on bullying. However, this measure angered a lot of parents. Students either have different colored collar or uniforms based on their grades. Contacting between junior and senior students are also prevented, forcing students to stay in their own “territory’. Even though some schools adapting the measure report a dramatic decrease in bullying, human activism groups believe it seriously violate the basic human right of students.

Sixth grader gets spanked 162 times for getting 35% on English test

A six grader was spanked 162 times by his cram school teacher for failing an English test. The child failed to reach the 85% mark which his 35 year-old teacher Zhang set for him. As a result, he was severely injured and bruised all over his body. After realizing how serious the situation was, the child’s parents reported the incident to the police. The teacher apologized but insisted he did what he had to do to teach his students. The family is planning to sue Zhang for bodily injury liability.

Pet owners asked to get rid of their pets or get fined

What do you do if your neighbors’ pets are always causing trouble? The community management committee decided to ask their residents to “decrease” the number of their pets to one per household or they could get fined NT$30000. Some residents were furious with the committee’s decision. Lawyers also sided with the residents and indicated new regulations should not be applied to existing residents. When approached by reporters, the director-general indicated the CMC is open to further discussion into the matter.

Poodle ruled innocent as the scapegoat of obscenity charge

A poodle was ruled innocent of sexual harassment after a perverted pet store worker tried to put the blame on the dog. The pet store worker, surnamed Wang, took advantage of a routine visit to a female client’s house and groped her while she was asleep. When questioned by the client he claimed “it was the dog, not him.” Wang was asked by a hostess to pick up her poodle at her place every week for its routine grooming. After he touched her breasts and legs while she was sleeping naked in bed, she reported the incident to the police. Ear bitten off in a “man eats man” bloody subway fight

A horrific “man eat man” like scene from Dawn of the Dead unfolded in front of passengers in a Guangzhou subway car. After fighting over seats, a 67 year-old and a 28 year-old passenger broke out in a fight. Enraged, the older passenger started biting the arms and ears of the younger passenger. Subway workers intervened and called the police not long after. The 67 year-old passenger suffered injuries to the nose while the 28 year-old had a piece of his ear bitten off. The two were both sent to the hospital for further treatment.
